Epic shows their Samaritan demo running off 1 Kepler card

Post by Sttm »

So I figure we have all seen Epics next gen Unreal Engine 3 Samaritan demo.

It took Epic 3 GTX 580s in SLI to run that Demo in real time. At GDC Epic showed it running off a single Kepler card. Which is just plain awesome to think about the games we could get in a year or two with that level of performance available in a single card. Though they say Card and not GPU so I wonder if its a dual gpu board or single. Either way thats a pretty big leap in performance for 1 generation.

Here is a link to the Nvidia article about it.

That is awesome!

But.....it will be so horribly overpriced that it will make no sense to spend $600+ to buy $50+ games to play - seriously, what is wrong with the pricing in the graphics card market.

Well if its single gpu then it just replaces the 580 at $500, which isn't too bad. I guess it depends on the game.

But yeah I've been hating on AMD lately for pricing their new cards above their old instead of replacing them and hopefully Nvidia doesnt do it too.
