New RTX cards - INSANE pricing!

Post by KnightRid »

2080ti - $1199
2080 $799
2070 $599

OUCH. I was hoping the new gen would come out and be lower cost to drive the current 10 cards down to reasonable levels. I was wrong.

Do you guys/gals at LR have any definite specs/prices for the cards?

Seems like the new cards are a good bit faster than this generation (I read some stuff that is saying 40-50% for some of the cards!) but pricing is still reflecting the cryptocurrency stuff IMO.

And people wonder why computer gaming has been on a decline....game console for cheaper than 1 video card......i wonder.

I know the computer would have better graphics but damn I can't afford to buy a high end video card. I will wait and see what the specs on the PS5 look like as I am thinking 4k at 30fps+ (60 maybe but we will see).

If they can do that in a ps5 for under $600 there is just no point paying the ridiculous PC prices for video cards IMO.

tbh I don't plan on upgrading this system until it starts to struggle with games on high settings. At the moment 100% of all games I have (over 150) run at 60+ fps at 1080p. even the poorly optimised ARK Survival Evolved and the recent battlefield 1 runs butter smooth on max settings. never see more than 70% cpu and 95% gpu in ARK, 75% cpu and 80% gpu in bf1 . Think I'm good for another 2-maybe 3 years 8-[

Edit: I have an asus maximus iv gene z gen 3 to replace my current board as I was able to pick it up for £30 as not working from a local sale site. Was told it wasn't working from time to time and when I got it yesterday I had a play with it and its running fine. so I guess the owner didn't know much about computers and blamed the mobo for a simple cpu or most likely memory issue. This mobo has a dedicated 8+4+2 power phase (8 cpu, 4 igpu and 2 memory) compared to my current 12+2 (12 phase running through a doubler so 6+6+2, 6 cpu, 6 igpu and 2 memory).

In comparison to the 1000 series, they are not worth the upgrade considering their price to performance ratio.
