Help needed!

My son's MSI GTX 1060 3GB OC just blew up yesterday. It emitted sparks and some black fumes and just died, the PC shut down. After removing the card and the cooler, I was able to easily identify the parts that burned, although I have no idea why they did. My son was just doing some study on the PC when this happened.
I have a friend, who is very handy with electronics and after showing him the pictures I made, he said he can replace them but he has no idea what parts are they, what is the voltage, characteristics, name of the parts, so he doesn't know what to look for. My question is - anyone has an idea how I can identify the particular parts, so my friend could get them and replace them on the card? Here are the pics I made of the parts. Two of them seem burned and phisicaly damaged, the rest around seems to be just smoked from outside, although they might also be damaged.

what do you mean? Not from you or not on this forum? I just need suggestions where to look for the info, like maybe the MSI customer support or any, even pay sites where to get the technical manual maybe?

MOSFET - https://datasheetspdf.com/pdf/1418728/M ... /MDU2657/1

Not sure if that is the exact one. I highly doubt it will be fixed by replacing the chips. Was it overclocked? Some power management probably failed on the card, PSU or MB to let more power come through than should have and ZAP. I am no expert though!!!!!!

As for the capacitors/resistors - good luck. I doubt you can find a spec sheet to tell you what they are so you could do a best guess, but that may blow it up again too ;)

First post never showed up....hrmmmm

The card was never OC'd and it seems the PSU and MOBO are fine because I just put back an old GTX 660Ti to replace the blown card and everything seems to work fine now. Somehow I suspect there was a mosquito or some other bug maybe that got between the two components and caused a short. I can't be sure but it just looks like a short have happened. Thanks for the link, will try and report back if any luck.

hi, have you fixed it already or did you buy a replacement? If you bought a new one, don't throw the old one.
Yes it could be scrap to you but actually you can sell it and make money from it. Visit here if you want No links unless approved
I hope it helps.

Oof, I have the exact same GPU, and seeing this post makes me nervous. A perfectly working card like that just randomly blowing up, in times like THESE, is a horrifying thought. Hope you manage to repair it or find a suitable replacement.

I found a company in California, who specialize on fixing problems like this. I found them on youtube and the guy seems to be very good. There is info in their video description, so I've sent them pictures of the issue and if they deem to be able to fix it, I will send the card to them for repair..
