If you guys are looking to spend $180-$220 on a video card here soon please wait till you see the performance numbers on the 7900GS. Let's just say it's an overclocking monster. Newegg.com has the XFX GeForce 7900GS up for sale right now at $212 even though the cards not launched yet and we picked one up from the egg for fun.

The initial results are insane and since the product is not "launched" by NVIDIA yet I'll hold the numbers for our offical "launch review". The above picture is of the card with water cooling added thanks to my Maze 4 water block. Let's just say with and without the water block coolbits wont slide far enough to the right to get fragments, so we have moved on to Riva Tuner to go even further. The 480MHz core on this overclocked XFX 7900GS goes hundreds of MHz beyond the original 450MHz that these are originally set at.

Does the video card yield good overclocking potentiel when using the stock cooling, or a better air cooling solution? I don't have a water cooling system so it would be interesting to know how well the video card will perform on air cooling 8)

On air there are some pretty amazing results.

It seems the 7900GS should be a big hit if it OCs with ease.

This card might be something for my son to take a look at, but then again he's kind of a die hard ATi fan.
