I have always owned Radeon cards but I want an Nvidia card now. I have a Radeon 9800 Pro 128 what is one step up from that in and Nvidia card? AGP...

My best guess would be a 7600GS for around ~$150 (they have 12 pipelines), or better yet a 7800GS for about ~$250 (they have 16 pipelines). But IMHO you might actually be better off getting a motherboard that can use all your other equipment and going with PCI-E. The cards are invariably cheaper and seem to all be clocked higher, than anything in AGP.

How much money are you looking to spend? That will inevitably decide what card you go with.

my problem is that I think my vid card is going out and I don't have the $$ to upgrade Mainboard, CPU, and video card. I can get an AMD 64 X2 4200 and an ECS motherboard( PCI-E) for about $200 but then I don't have the money to get a new Vid card. I am worried that if I get a motherboard that uses only PCI-E and wait (leave all in box) till I have the money for a PCI-E vid card I won't be able to return anything IF I have a problem since more than 30 days may pass till I can get the Vid card. I have seen a few Motherboards that will run both PCI-E and AGP but I don't know how good they are. I also don't know IF my memory will work on a board that can use the "new" types of memory.

If thats the problem ($$$) than get a AMD 3000+ (only $60) and a X850XT(16 pipes)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 814102688R
Its no 7900 but it works GREAT for $99
Cpu $60
GPU $99
Mobo $62
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 813130484R
$221 for a nice comp. You can get a X2 3800 or 4200 later if you really need it.
I have been buying open box from Newegg for a few years nad never had a prob.(still has a guarantee)

OK soo I got a bonus at work and I have ordered an eVGA 7600GT for 139.99 on NewEgg,a DFI Lanparty UT nF4 ultra-D for 104.99 and an athelon 64 3200 Venice for 69.49 I also had a bit extra so I splurged on an open box 19" LCD viewsonic monitor for 148.00. I think I got a fairly good deal on all the above what do you all think...while I still have a little time to cancel?

Nice, the DFI boards are great. you might want to replace the chipset cooler (it's a little loud at speed) with an Evercool VC-RE. Super easy mod. So now you need a nice PCIE vid card and I happen to know where you can get a
good deal on one
