ok a few of the members of LR are quickly finding my appetite for PC knowledge is pretty big and growing all the while.
i'm still green but i'm building myself a computer to be upgradeable as i have some extra cash but good enough to last on its own for a year or two.
will someone please tell me what i should do about video card(s) for my new pc?
here's the build so far, and i'm reaaaally tempted to spring for the XFX GeForce 8800 GTX SLI but im not sure i can really justify spending $600 when i've managed to keep everything else under $1,000.
running two decent cards in sli? or should i just buy a midrange card, and save up for the next phase in video cards for me?
ADVICE!!!!!

hokay
i read the reviews for the NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT as well as the XFX GeForce 7950 GT 570M Extreme.
would i be wise or stupid to go with 2 of the 7900 GTs
it will be at least a month or two before i can consider buying a water cooling system, but i'm still trying to wrap my head around all the numbers...
sent the above message to someone but i want some public feedback too.
im impressed with the 7900s and they're running about an average of $200 so it seems.
tight on cash for now, but i can afford a little here and there. i need SOMEthing to put in this new machine i'll be ordering soon, and i know i'll want to make it a sick rig later on.

For the same money you can get a single 8800GTS, it will be faster than two 7900GTs, it is DX10 compatible, and leaves you with the possibility of adding another 8800GTS for SLI in the future. It is the fastest card on the market, next to the GTX.would i be wise or stupid to go with 2 of the 7900 GTs
Re: hokay
I think you can get a GX2 cheaper than 2 7900's with less heat generated and power required.stopthekilling77 wrote:i read the reviews for the NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT as well as the XFX GeForce 7950 GT 570M Extreme.
