oh and I just wanted to point out that this DX10 8800 GTS 320MB card is the OC'd version. Thinking logically, this would mean the regular 8800 GTS 320MB card would be less... say under $300.
If it was $299.99 imagine with a rebate one of these could be had for $250-$270 if and when rebates are to be had after launch.

Why would they lower the price of an 8800gts to 200? They wouldn't, the 8600 Ultra is supposed to be released at 179.99, that will be the card to buy in that price point.
I would be hesitant to buy an 8800gts with half the memory. In the high resolutions (where 8800s should be used) I would imagine it would choke compared to the 640mb.

Well, looking at the reviews and benchmarks, the 8800GTS 320MB would be best for those with 17" and 19" LCDs running at 1280x1024. Any higher, it usually chose, like you said. Also, if you're one of those people who don't use AA/AF, then the 320MB would be okay even with higher resolutions.

I think the 640 MB version is not worth the extra money.In the lower resolutions,both the 320MB & the 640MB versions work equally & only in the higher resolutions,there r some differences b2in them.This can't justify the extra price for the 640MB version.

well if you use ultra high res textures in Oblivion with everything cranked up to NUTZ, the 640 would be unbelievably useful.

I think that there should be difference between the 8800GTS 640 MB and the 8800GTS 320 MB only in the 3Dmarks and maybe in the higher resolution, but people like me (with 17" monitors) don't need the 640MB version. The prize difference counts too

Ya, I agree with u, I do have a 17'' monitor too & the 640 MB version is only giving better results in the higher resolutions. So, it's completely waste of money to go for the 640MB version if not using any uber high resolution.

If you don't have a monitor capable of a resolution higher than 1280x1024, getting a 8800GTX or 8800GTS 640MB would not be worth it.

I read Compusa is closing nearly 50% of their stores. -Grain of salt.- Not sure if will help them at this point. What would really suck is if someone pre-orders, then the company claims bankruptcy and you had to fight to get money back.

I picked up the 320mb version Saturday at Fry's (thanks to a few gift cards). Sure looks/runs games 1000 times better than my old ATI R700!!
