Hey.
I have a few questions here.
I'm a little confused with all this.
So anyways I have a Pana 52 INCH HDTV.
My screen is supposed to support 1080i wich is a pretty nice resolution.
The only thing though is that when I set it to 1080i with my 7900GT KO it works but its all shaky.
The picture shakes.
Now of course I have a DVI to HDMI adaptor.
Could that be the reason.
Since my card only has DVI ports.
Is 1080i only on HDMI.
Or is it that my HDTV doesn't really support it but they still say it does on the box.
I don't know what to think here...

if ur tv has hdmi try that connection alone instead of with the dvi adapter...also could be that sometimes a display needs a driver to correctly set the resolution with the card..not entirely sure since i never hooked up an hdtv to my pc tho..thought id give it a shot for ya

If you are going to be doing anything that has fast moving pictures, i.e. movies through your PC orgames, then I'd still reccommend running at 720p. Why? Well as the 1080 is interlaced, it runs 520 lines of picture every refresh, but the 720p will run 720 lines of picture every refresh. This will make them look smoother.

But for pure windows real estate, have you checked out things like your refresh rate settings? If the card hasn't recognised that its a TV (due to the converter) then it might be settinging it too high.

Though I think I cannot change it since the only available is 60Hz.
It recognises it as PANASONIC MDD...

I beleive the reason is because my videocard is not HDCP ready and thusfar doesn't upscale the signal or something like that.
I been reading a few things though I don't know much about these new technologies.
But you are right though for gaming and movies I should go for 720p.
All in all I just want to make sure my HDTV isn't a rip off and really supports 1080i

Getting a computer to display 1080i on a HDTV is always tricky. It can be done, of course, but you will need to tweak and experiment a lot. If the set can display 1080, then it will take HDMI, DVI, component

Of course, if you just want to make sure the TV is a good one, you can always check the Pany website and see what the spec say you should get and if it has a built-in tuner, and then grab a (fairly) cheep antenna to hook up. Not exactly sure where you are, but most areas get PBS or CBS over the air that broadcast in 1080i. The hook up is a simple coax and you wont pull your hair out trying to figure out settings.

All of this depends on the TV though.

Well i'm in Quebec and everything is pretty much retarded here.
We will probably get those kind of broadcasts in 2 3 years from here and i'm not joking.
I know it supports 1080i.
And when I send 720p to the monitor through my PC it shows up so nice and crispy but when i set it to 1080i it shows up fine but everything is shaking/fuzzy.
I can still see that its a lot crisper but it still shakes.
I wonder if its just because of my videocard or because my TV doesn't get it right or whatever...
Like I said so far I have a DVI to HDMI adapter.
Since my TV doesn't have DVI ports only one HDMI but I guess DVI and HDMI is mostly the same.
I guess then the plausible answer in all this is that my TV supports it but my videocard doesn't get it right...
