Buying a white book notebook from Page Computers?

Post by Apoptosis »

I just got this from a reader:
When you’re shopping for the lowest price on a ASUS Z63a, I found that Page Computers looked pretty attractive. I bought my ASUS Z63a from Page, but it is my solemn duty as a ‘Legit’ reader to inform you that the experience was a nightmare and the price changed 3 times AFTER I checked out. Just contacting Customer Service was a major hassle. Maybe you’ll get lucky, but I sure wasn’t.
A heads up that you might want to pay a few extra dollars and avoid buying from page computers IF they continue to pull stunts like this.

Actually I've had problems with pagecomputers in the past. I at one time bought a few computer cases from them because my distributor didn't carry it and the customer liked the look.

It took about 5 business days for them to submit the item to UPS and though I paid for 2-day delivery they put it under 3 day ground (which is what it said on tracking number). It took numerous phone calls to make them admit they made a mistake and refund me the difference of shipping charges.

to the people that have ordered from here b4: what does it mean when your order is "ON HOLD". tried calling & emailing but no luck.

LMFAO as i was writing this; they called me to verify my shipping and billing address. not sure if this is a good thing though. shouldnt it be automatic (via the credit card company)?!?!?

sometimes these smaller companies do call and confirm things. Let us know how it goes.

Z63A Chassis - $580
Pentium M 740 1.73GHz - $163
Kingston DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) - 1GB (512 x 2) [dual channel i hope] - $95
Hitachi TravelStar 7K100 60GB 8MB 7200RPM - $131
Asus Dual Layer DVD Drive - $130
Intel 2915 Wireless - $35
Artic Silver 5 - $11

TOTAL = $1145

lol some of the above info/specs is not necessary, but i'm gonna copy & paste the above to any1 that asks (coworkers, boss). didnt want to spend over $1000, but i think i got a good deal on some of the parts; every where i looked they charged like extra $50 on the Chassis, CPU, RAM & HD. even looked at Dell w/ their $500, $750 coupons and still felt i could better by building it myself. i also spent another $150 on a P M 735 because i still havent made up my mind on whether im gonna run a stock 740 or oveclocked 735. i saw 2 good deals on ebay that i couldnt pass, so i thought why not? use one and sell the other.
