try booting into safe mode, run "msconfig" and click on the "startup" tab....disable everyting and reboot
It could be some prog running @ startup causing it
Do you use norton internet security? --> if so --> DON'T (its bloatware and crap)
You could try pressing F8 @ startup and choosing "last known good configuration"

(very wierd) the only AV i have is macafee(could be the update or something i dont know. LOL
unfortunealty since windows boot to the desktop last known config wouldnt work. LOL but thank you! I will continue to look into it. more suggestions would be nice!!!

Removing Mcafee would be a good start...!
I work for an ISP.....Norton and Mcafee are our arch enemies
P.O.S..............!
Try disabling the programs from startup via "msconfig"
goto start / run / type "msconfig" --> goto statup tab and untick all
do this as a temp solution, if it fixes it then re-enable each 1 by 1 until you find the culprit.............
I think it's Mcafee! It's just as bad as norton...full of crap...they give good protection, but get very bloated and use wayy too much resources!

i think i figured it out!! and for those of you who are anti anti-antivirus i think you will be happy to hear this, but i have uninstalled Mcafee and seems to working fine now(knocking on wood) and seems to have even made my wifi work rigtht off the bat too. Before my wifi would take a long time to start so i couldnt even get online.
What really did it to me was when we had the last 5min to study before a test in class and so i started my laptop and the one time i didnt want it to do that hang up deal it did and the worst yet. It took 6 min to become workable again. LOL So i uninstalled mcafee right after the test and seems to working now!!!!!
Its really wierd, i have mcafee on everything else and works just fine. So i am guessing mcafee needs a wired (quarenteed) connection in order to start its service right.
