Palm T/X

Anyone here have/use/seen in use a palm TX? im looking at getting one for me birfday... Ive read some reviews, they all seem very good.

this may not be what you want to hear, but have you considered the Windows powered PDA's for example the Dell Axim range?

Im saying this because the windows powered PDA's have more productivity and options than any other platform.... MS outlook, MSWord, PPT and a whole host of upgradable features!

Im not dissing Palm, im just saying in my opinion theres better out there... if you do decide to look at windows powered solutions, make sure its got Windows Mobile 5.0!

The main reason that i looked at the palm was cause i had a palm OS hand held before. I have read some good reviews on the TX. Also, i didnt really find something with Wifi on the pocket pc end for about 250-300. (though i could have just missed something.)

I did a little more searching and founf the HP ipaq rx1955. priced pretty much the same. I skimmed a pretty lengthy review and several times it mentioned about the tx over the ipaq... but if you got others, please let me know.

i cant really argue with that review because i dont actually own the unit, but just to say that the WM5.0 platform keeps getting updates on a quarterly if not quicker basis. Manufactureres keep pumping out new ROM updates and the like.

Also compatibility has now become a much smaller issue as all the latest apps are now WM5.0 firiendly.. its a bit frustrating for me now as the latest apps only run on WM5.0 and not my PPC2003!

If youre prepared to pay $375, go for the Dell Axim X51v, my mate has it and i can say it has a screen that leaves nothing to be desired!
It is a truly excellent PDA!

thanks for the help and suggestions. i went ahead and got the palm tx. found it on amazon for like 270 shipped and got a 2 gig sd card for it too. actually, i am witting this message on it. im happy with it. thanks again for the suggestions.

haha, ya...guess so. The wireless interent is just a tad slower that wired cable...i have to get some patients...

anyone know any places to get good free programs for the palm OS? Im am mostly looking for a picture/video viewer that will read off my SD. the program that came with it doesnt read pics off the card and the only other ones i am finding are trials only...
