why don't you want to undervolt? That's really the main thing to do!

On the right hand button problem, you did not load the Power 4 gear program off the ASUS driver CD.

Also,
Why did you go with the 770 CPU? My 1.6@ 400 CPU is over clocked (dip switch) to 2.13 @ 533 for a lot less money than you spent on the 730 chip to achieve the same results. Really the big selling point of the Z71V laptop was that it will turn a 400 MHZ chip into a 533 MHZ via a single dipswitch.

And the last piece of advice, keep a close eye on your battery. The first gen batteries died pretty quickly (didn’t hold a 100 charge). If you start to have the same problems (charging always on), then give ASUS a call to have them RMA a replacement battery to you (this will do a swap since they are aware of the problem).

update... my battery was not holding a charge for great periods of time either so I called ASUS via the information on their website...

Notebook Support:
Email: http://vip.asus.com/eservice/techserv.aspx
Notebook ONLY Hotline: 510-739-3777 ext. 5110

The person I spoke to took my serial number and said that I was still in the 1 year warranty coverage and that I qualify for an RMA. He said I will get an address on where to ship this batter later today and they will send me out a new one when they get the old one.

I got an e-mail from ASUS already... whole RMA processor took less than 15 minutes.
Hi Nathan,

We thank you for choosing ASUS products.

Your RMA number is N-E???????, please use this number to check your RMA status reaching us at 510-739-3777 Notebook Support Dept. or to our toll free 1-888-678-3688 option "3" Monday-Friday 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM PST

Please do not reply to this email since we will not see it.

When you are ready to send your BATTERY, please do the following:

- Write the problem in detail and attach it to your BATTERY.

- Write the RMA number on the out side of the box. This is very important. Please be informed that if the RMA number is not found on the outside of the box your package will be rejected by our Shipping and Receiving Dept.

- Ship to: ASUS NOTEBOOK SUPPORT, 44370 Nobel Dr., Fremont, CA 94538 USA

Please be informed that any kind of physical damage is completely out of warranty.

It will be your responsibility to ship the BATTERY to us in good condition, so be sure to pack it properly, use a reliable shipper and insurance if you consider it is necessary. We suggest that if it is possible do not use United States Postal Service (USPS) or use it at your own risk, since we have had several cases reporting damaged and/or lost packages by this company.

If you have any question please let us know, we will be glad to help you.

Thanks & Best Regards,

Notebook Support Department
ASUS Computer International
Ph 1-888-678-3688 / 510-739-3777
Fax 510-797-2614
Guess I'll pack it up and spend some more money shipping this back to them! I find it interesting that they say not to use the USPS.

A little update for anyone that has cooked their replacement battery and needs a new one (my went belly up a few weeks ago after about a years use).

Asus it taking names for the next batch of batteries due in sometimes around mid June 07 ( they will need to test them, then they will start calling to get your shipping information). The quoted me a price of $100 when I talked to them, so at least they are not gouging too much on a battery that will last a year if your lucky.
