what mobo to use with my prize pentiumM ?
ok. have to think about it. the problem is new cards are not made in agp anymore so I can't upgrade later, unless I change the mobo. on the other hand the aopen+7800 would cost me much more now. otherwise I would go for asus for sure. I have to think it over. thanks kenc51.

The initial build of a new system is always the hardest, especially when older architectures are being phased out for the new. I know I ran into that with what graphics card to go with. At first, I wanted the 6800GT, but when I got a whiff of the 7800GTX, my whole perception changed. Plus, I was originally only wanting a 3700+ San Diego, but when the 3800+ X2 came out, that changed too, lol. So the first build is the roughest, but if you pick something that is upgradeable later without mobo swap or otherwise (think DFI, heheh, I'm such a devil's advocate for them), then you did well. Personally the DFI/7800 combo or the Asus/7800 combo would work well. It's a lot to think on, I tell ya.....

initially I was gonna use a DFI mobo with my new desktop, then I bought an MSI with SLI from illuminati and now I won the 760 which wasn't in my plans (ididn't even hope for this). so now change of plans. so far I couldn't find a DFI mobo with PCI-E and socket 479 or adapter for the dothan. remember I have a P4M 760 Dothan to work with. same goes to ASUS. so if I get 7800 then I have to go AOPEN or if AGP then one of the ASUS mobos+479 adapter. or do you know about any other option killswitch?

thanks kill. I have an ABIT right now
anyway, since originally I also wanted to have SLI and there is non for pentium M right now, I might just stay with asus+AGP for now and see what I can harvest from that. it also would be much cheaper then the other route

Sounds good...it's always a good thing to save your money and wait for prices to drop. I got it good though, because I posted a news entry the other day, AMD Turion 64 Mobile CPU prices slashed up to 26%, and when I found out they were doing that, I almost jumped out of my seat. So now the price is down to $328 according to the article for the X2 3800+. I know you're using the Intel chip, I'm just glad I decided to jump on the AMD wagon, but there's always a second system after you build this one, lol. Ugh, the addiction, lol
