Now I know the T2080 is dual core and the amd is not, but has anyone used anythign similiar? Wife is looking for a low end laptop for work and CC has the t2080 for a decent price right now, so I might tell her to buy that and switch with my 3300+ :)

IF it is worth it. I am thinking in terms of folding power with the SMP client also ;)

I never messed with laptop cpus much, so I really dont have a clue if the T2080 is worth the money, or to go wit ha single core AMD. I do know the T2080 halves the onboard cache to 1MB compared to c2d chips and it only runs at, I think, 533mhz.

That's easy, go for the dual core and get the SMP on :)

I think the Core Duo (Yonah) does outperform the Sempron(/athlon?) in any case.

simple, straighforward - OK, will see if she wants to go that route!

Heres hoping for another dual core on the folding team soon - will lose the other laptop though since she has no interent access at work, and she will be leaving it there :(
