Dell Extends Warranty For Laptops With Nvidia GPU's

Post by Sparky »

Well, Dell has decided to extend warranties 1 year on the laptops with the affected GPU's. I'd still feel better if they'd replace my mobo / gpu chip completely as I don't use it that often and I'm afraid it wil just fail after the extra year has passed.

WOW. I'm surprised this didn't make a bigger news line.

You need to work that laptop hard and often to just to break in the GPU. If it goes flaky, you got a warranty to cover it.

Well it's not exactly official yet. I looked on their website and mine still shows warranty expiring in 180 days. I can only hope that they come up with something better to offer. I'd hate to think I paid all that money for a door stop.

Here's thier exatct wording on it as of today:

Dell will offer a 12-month limited warranty enhancement specific to this issue. For all customers worldwide, we plan to add 12 months of coverage for this issue to the existing limited warranty up to 60 months from the date of purchase for the following systems:
Details of the service plan will be available in the next few weeks. When I have more details to share, I will do so.

In the meantime, thanks to all of our customers for your patience through this process. We appreciate your business and are committed to serving all of you who are impacted

If Dell covers it and the other manufactures don't get off of their duff to cover it, then Dell is the champion company to order from next time.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that HP offered another year to owners warranties a few weeks back.

That's cool. My laptop may need it.
