looking for ultra-light laptop

My Toshiba Satellite just died on me so now, I'm looking for a replacement. I already have an Acer Aspire One netbook which I bring with me everyday, but I need something slightly bigger and more capable for at home use and the occasional long trip.

Need something in the 13~14" range with good battery life. Prefer something with Windows XP pre-installed. Much as I like Windows 7, Windows XP is just much easier to deal with productivity-wise. Budget is $1,000 max. Looking at Dell Vostro 1320 and HP dv3 initially.

Thanks!

I'm still using the MSI X340 we reviewed here: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1066/1/

While it came with Windows Vista, I have Windows 7 Professional RTM installed on it now and love it. I would be interested in finding the 8-cell battery as I only have the 4-cell right now and could use the extra battery life.

How does the MSI X340's Core 2 Solo CPU compare to, say, a Celeron 430 (Conroe-L) at 1.80GHz or a Core 2 Duo T7200 (Merom) 2.0GHz?

Addendum: Optical drive is a requirement. DVD is fine.
