so i have an RCA Lyra 5GB MP3 player(and ONLY MP3) and it worked normal up until a few weeks ago when it would no longer connect to USB(at first, it would be recognized, but if you click into it it would lock up explorer(same happened with a DVD+R drive that died)looking like it was trying to access the folders) now the player says "connecting.." and Windows 7 Ult x64 does not recognize it all.

I took out the HDD that is inside the player(Microdrive) and plugged it into my card reader, and it works great

any ideas? it sounds like the USB adapter on the player is gone, but it still works power-wise

Have you tried it on any other operating systems (XP, Vista)? Maybe the USB cable is bad, tried another one?
