Same WiFi Card & Different Notebooks

At my new house I am on a 802.11b WiFi connection thanks to my neighbors open signal. I noticed something funny though today. My ASUS Z71V detects the signal in every room of the house, but my AOpen 1558J doesn't detect any signals in the house or the front yard. Since both have the same card and software I am guessing that the notebook chassis is the reason for the difference.

Anyone else expierence something like this?

I'd guess it's to do with the internal antenna???

Mayby the power is low in Aopen (not battery, transmit/recieve power)????

I've noticed this before. I've had my iPaq get great WiFi reception and my laptop not pick up anything. Kinda wierd, I'd guess it has most to do with the antenna. You'd think a laptop would have a better antenna than my iPaq though!

Yeah it has to do with the antenna, and it something that is really not talked about in reviews.

dont in the imacs they put a dual vertical antennas in the lcd display? and the card just connects to those. one would think they would do something like that. if not i see some rf modding comming up!!! :finga:
