Laptop issue

Hi guys.

I have a laptop (my partners) and it keeps crashing and freezing, and if she is really unlucky it will reboot for what would seem to be no reason.

The spec is:

Make & Model : Samsung R519
OS : Windows 7 32 bit
RAM : 4 Gb
CPU : Duel core 2.20 GHz

I have run a few diagnostics and system cleaning (C Cleaner, Defrag, Speed Fan) and that didn't do that much.

Just one thought though, she has a second partition on the hard drive for back ups, could this be some of the cause??

Thanks for any help Neptune24

Couple things to try...

Replace the memory if you have some laying around. If you don't, try taking one chip out and running it (it will be slower but do not worry about that)...if it crashes and freaks out, then take that chip out and put the other one in and see if it still does it. Might just have a memory chip going bad.

How hot is it running? Speedfan should be able to give you basics if you do not have a program to test temps. Might be the fan is going bad or the thermal paste is old.

Replace the hard drive and see if it stops the problem. Make sure to create restore discs before taking the old hard rive out though....which of course you made the first day you had the laptop :-k (hopefully)

Those are the main things I see on laptops that cause problems, other than the mainboard going bad, which in most cases it is just easier and sometimes cheaper to just buy a new laptop.

To add to what KnightRid said I'd get a can of compressed air and make sure the fan is clear of dust. Nothing like a little dust in a laptop fan to start getting overheating problems.

I'd also recommend you see if the computer is infected with bad stuff before you make hardware purchases.
Scanning Software:

I don't think there is a hardware issue on the laptop.
Can't say the same about dust.
Is there some sort of diagnostics software I can download to see if that will tell me what's wrong. Having a look yesterday I couldn't find any.
The laptop was infected a little while ago but that was cleared up without a problem, however I shall check that out again.

As far as I know CCleaner and Glary Utilities only clean up junk files by default.

I have got them set to clean the registry too.

Also is there any way to see what is causing the issues, or do I have to sit there and see what it's doing just after it crashes?

Check the event logs.
R-Click (my) computer and go to "manage"
Then event logs on the left
