i need some other opinions for a buddy of mine, since i can't help him decide cause i can't decide on this either... heh..

he wants a new laptop, and wants to drop a buttload of money on it..
heres the choices:

Sager NP5950-V

Sager NP5720-V

Sager NP9750-V

although none of these have Intel Centrino Duo proc's i was wondering if he should wait till one of these models come with that proccessor or if he should find another model or barebones chassis that can take a Duo proc.

the 5950 has a 19" screen and SLI
the 5720 has Pentium M proccessors
the 9750 has the FX-60 processor or X2 processors

the thing he wants to weigh is would it be worth dropping screen size and SLI for a different processor? would it be worth waiting (and go crazy waiting)?

he did look at the Dell XPS M1710, this laptop has the Intel Duo processor and a 7900 GS with all the trimmings for about the same price... but still "only" a 17" monitor without SLI..

do you realise itl suck for gaming on the go? The battery will be drained in 30mins!

I would still say wait for conroe and the next gen CPU's to be out!

I agree. Plus the Duo is more of a step backwards when it's time to upgrade to 64-bit since it does not have EM64T. The Conroe will provide that feature as well.

hmm.. this conroe sounds pretty nifty.. i'll have to have him do some research on this..

im personaly waiting till later this year before i dive into the wonderful world of laptops.. heh..

Also SLI on a LCD screen is useless unless it a 30" screen....

A single 7900GT will easilly be fast enough for a 17"/19" screen.......

If it was me.....I'd get a x1600 gfx card and turion cpu....
OR just wait 6mths for Intel....

forget SLI on a laptop......really is pointless....way too expensive, uses too much power and what's the point in playing a game @ 1280x1024 @ ~200fps when ~75fps will do?
