Mounting a laptop HDD in a desktop?

So I want to mount my laptop harddrive in my desktop for hot swapping... any recomendations?

all you need is a little $5 converter and then just plug the sucker in. I used to run one of my silent rigs a few years back off a laptop drive made it nice and quiet.

but is it still hot swappable?

no since it IDE i tried hooking it up to a SATA converter but its still not HS.
