Good Day to all.
I’m from the East Coast of the USA Philadelphia Pa. Everyone calls Bob Ski because of my last name. I’m 62 years YOUNG and was just forced into retirement. Married for 46 years to the same woman. “Saint Ro”. I call her that because of what she put up with over the years. I have 4 children 2 boys 2 girls from 36 to 45 years old and 3 grandchildren 2 boys and 1 girl. I like deep sea fishing; I’m a master wood-worker (Hobby) and worked as a Computer Operations Director / Manager for 30 years. Well that’s me in a nut shell.
I found this site while searching the WEB for information about my BFG 680i LT SLI MOBO and BIOS for my overclocking project.
A few months ago I built my first computer.
MOBO BFG nForce 680i LT SLI Socket 775 Motherboard
CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz 4x2mb 1066FSB CPU
Memory Four Gb OCZ DFI Special Edition Dual Channel 1024MB PC6400 DDR2
GPU(s) Two (2) BFG GeForce 8800 GTX / 768MB GDDR3 / SLI Ready / PCI Express
Hard Drive’s Two (2) HD’s 500Gb each OS(s) XP on drive “C” and VISTA on “D”
Thermal Electric CPU Cooler
Running At 3.22GHz
3DMark06 Score 16,351
I only had two Gb of Ram installed when I ran this 3Dmark06

As you can see I’ve been Overclocking this setup and don’t think I’m doing to bad at it. I received a lot of help with the build and overclocking. When I started I knew nothing about PC’s. (How everything worked together) I’m still in the dark about many aspects of the inner workings but I’m learning and I’m not afraid to ask for help. I think that the worst thing you can do is hack at something until you get right.
It looks like I hit a wall with the overclocking and it maybe because the BIOS is out of date. I can’t push the FSB past 1425 @ 9X. I’ll be asking questions when I find the correct topic to ask it in.
When I started the project I had no idea how a person could get so involved in something like this. I now spend hours reading about what and how other people are doing things.
I was trying to get my FPS up and more Eye Candy at the same time when flying.
I got hooked on Flight Simulations!!!
I’m looking forward to meeting the people, giving any help that I can and getting some solid advice about any problems that I run into with my project.

welcome to the forums Bob! the guys here are VERY helpful, and have guided me through the basics of how a computer works to the point that i'm building my first PC today!
i'll be overclocking soon enough, but for now just getting it built will be a challenge!
be sure to check out the Intel Processors forum, graysky has a guide up which might pique your interest!
once again welcome to the forums, i'm sure you'll want to kick off your shoes and take a look around

Thank you
After I registered and started to look around I began to think that I had no business being a member because I didn’t know enough to be any help to anyone. I hope I’m wrong.

We have a country club where you can kick back and post if you think that you won't be able to help anyone, but I'm sure that you will be able to, you have obviously spent time reading about things and we get people who post all the time that have only just started and don't really know anything, so they need all the help people can give.

So yeah, welcome to the community and I hope you stick around and enjoy yourself!

Haha, that's my whole work ethos regarding coding (HTML and stuff). Though I get the feeling that I won't make a good coderI think that the worst thing you can do is hack at something until you get right.

So yeah, welcome to the community and I hope you stick around and enjoy yourself!
