I followed Shad over here from our old forum, we've become pretty good friends over the last year, so...you got both of us. (not sure if thats a good thing)

I come from the heavy equipment field...Cranes to be exact. I co-own a bussiness, with my Brother, in California's wine country.

I got into computers in 1994, when I decided to take apart my packard bell desktop to see what made it tick. I was hooked, I have been building systems every since. Then 2 years ago I got into folding. I could really use an intervention. I even put a 3kv solar power system on my house to offset the power bill. It doesn't help matters that my best friend and brother in law is a well connected network engineer for a large company in the Bay Area. So, I get all kinds of beta software to try out, And he keeps me on the cutting edge with new technology. I will be sure to pass on anything I think will be of interest.

What else?? I'm 45 years old. I have been married for 25 years. I have 19 year old triplet boys. 2 in college, one about to be kicked out by his Mom. and a 13 year old Boy. I am also into BBQing, people make fun of me because I own 4 BBQ's....But they line up for my ribs, and Brisket.

I hope to make a lot of friends here, and learn alot and teach a little.
God Bless.

frosty,

Welcome to the forums and glad you joined up over here. We have a small, but very mature forum. The average age of our active forum members are in the 25-40 age range from recent surveys, so it's very different from many of the other PC forums. We also try to keep things flame free and all that good stuff.

The First PC that I took apart was an old Packard Bell 120Mhz Pentium 1 system that I bought for $1300 with a 12" CRT from Best Buy back in 1996. This was also my first PC that I took apart (other than the 80808 that was a pos) and actually overclocked via the jumpers that were badly labeled... was a hit or miss and if I remember right I think i got it to up to about 150Mhz from 120MHz, which I was happy with.

Other than that I try out everything I can get my hands on be it air cooling, water cooling, dry ice and so on... It's addictive to say the least :)

Hey Frosty22,
I've been through the wine country before (my great uncle lives around the Paradise area so we figured, why not?) I'm from CA as well, SoCal actually. I'm one of the younger ones here at 19, just a few months from 20 though. I always get a little homesick for the west coast when hear about others living out there! I know you're already enjoying the forums and reviews, but it only gets better with a few weeks, then a few months :) I hope one day I get a better job so i could actually build systems more. Anyhow glad there's another seasoned pro here for us to glean from! Welcome!

4 kids, I have my hands full with two, let alone 4. As for the BBQ, your not crazy, if I had room for it I would have two my self and a smoker.
