HD 2600 XT AGP help?

Post by srknkcyrk »

Hi everyone,

I recently bought HIS Radeon iceq turbo HD 2600 xt agp 256mb, and i have a strange problem. I use AMD athlon 3000+ processor and 1gb of ddr400 ram. I have two hdd's and one has XP installed, the other has Vista. My problem is , I get very low fps's in any game under XP , while i have very good fps's on Vista. Therefore, i know that there is no bottlenecking, so please tell me something else. I do many things for that such as formatting my hdd and reinstalling XP, installing catalyst from ver 7.6 to 8.3, installing omega drivers. Sorry for this long story but i do need help, do you have any ideas? What is good with vista and bad with xp?

regards

did you use driver cleaner to remove all the old drivers before you installed CATALYST 8.3's??

Unfortunately, yes. I completely uninstalled previous drivers when installing another one

There is a BIG difference between a "complete uninstall" and using "driver cleaner". I even use driver cleaner once again in safe mode to be sure.

very strange... XP should be scoring higher than Vista in most games, so if you are seeing low performance in general versus Vista that isn't right. Might be time to backup your date and do a full format and a fresh install of XP.
