Recomendations PLZ

Post by Merlin »

I had intended on buying a 6600 GT this week but alas $$ is a bit tighter than I had anticipated. My current card is a 9600 SE and I am getting frequent crashes and VPU recover errors playing Neverwinter Nights. The Mod I play on is extremely custome and has lots of Visual special effects. I am looking for a solid AGP card that would be an improvement over the 9600 SE and yield good game play at 1024X 768 set to high detail. I may be looking for something that doesn't exist but I have to ask. I can spend maybe $100 U.S. and I don't care if its used or not so E-bay or buying from one of you guys is fine with me as long as the card works. Any help is appreciated.

A 9800Pro would make a great card, I'm still using one in my second rig and it works with all the games I play just fine............. Good luck finding a card.
Newegg has a 128 meg 256 bit version for $120 plus shipping.

I would still point you in the 6600GT range if you can find one in your budget. Its worth the extra cash even if you have to wait another week.

If you're open to secondhand video cards, you can find very good deals out there (particularly in AGP form). In addition to EBay, I'd suggest posting WTB (Want To Buy) threads in some of the For Sale forums out there. In fact, right here on Legit they opened such a forum recently, so this would be a great opportunity to take advantage of it:
