Post by infinitevalence »

I just got a new "used" AIW 9600xt and i have to say, this thing is awsome. I love the fact that i can watch TV on my desktop. I think that from now on when i buy a video card im going to get an AIW. Now i can finaly do all the things i want with out ever having to leave my desk.

i've had that same card for several months now. it is a great video card, with LOTS of features. i love being able to watch TV (and record it) on my comp, very handy. plus it comes with a pretty good software package for video editing and such. at first i didn't think it would be worth it to get a video card with a built in TV tuner, but i can tell you right now that all my future machines with have one.

Welcome to the forums!!

Yeah man i love the software, the onscreen stuff looks so good and works very well. I already have Vegas on my system so i plan to use that to edit out all the comercles, and i just put a 250gb disk in there so i have like 15days of record time :).

ATI AIW 9600XT - FM TUNER, No/poor radio signal

Post by john02rsx »

I bought my AIW 9600XT recently, and I installed the software supplied with the box (ATI Multimedia Center 8.8). I'm running Windows XP SP2.
I tried using the FM Tuner program, but all I get is static. I have connected the FM cables to the back of the card. I even tried to connect a split TV Cable and still don't get any FM radio signal.
Does anyone out there have the similar problems or maybe even a solution for this?

you know what, i used to be able to listen to the radio, but sometime a while back, it must have stopped working. i usually don't listen to the radio through the comp, but i'd try it every once and a while, and for a while now all i've got was static.

does anybody have problems with their remote? when i first got the card, the remote didn't work. i somehow got it up and runing a month or so after i got the card, not too sure how. it stopped working again a while later, and i kept putting off trying to figure out the problem until i eventually forgot about it. the LED in the receiver blinks when i press buttons, but other than that, there is no response.

yeah that happens all the time to me, try just hitting the PC button and then it should start working again. if you hit one of the AUX buttons it could be switching to a different program or peice of hardware.

alright, so i re-installed and downloaded multimedia center 9.8. my remote works great now. but its uslesses because.....the tv doens't work :x

i get this message if i try to open anything in ATI Multimedia Center (DVD, TV, Player, VCD, CD, FM Radio, TV Listings, Library)...

"ATIMMC.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Error Signature:
AppName: atimmc.exe
AppVer: 9.8.0.0
ModName: mfc71.dll
ModVer: 7.10.3077.0
Offset: 00019fa3"

i did a bit of research online, and it sounds like the new versions of multimedia center are buggy. i was hoping to download version 8.2 or around there to see if i could get it working again, but haven't had any luck finding a place to get it.

I have problems with my remote as well. I have the radeon 9700 AIW. it used to work great. then it stopped working. It doesnt show up in the taskbar like it used to, but i can see that the program is running in the background through "windows task manager." any ideas?

corrupted module in the software perhaps? I would try cleaning it completely off (the ATI software I mean) and try a re-install....that's usually why software-to-hardware communications with something like that fails. If it's an individual component of the software package, I would just remove it and re-install from disk....shouldn't take long at all. I'll let some others chime in here.......
