New! Catalyst 7.4 Drivers released on 18 Apr 07.

Post by gara56 »

Just saw ATI's website and it had the new Catalyst 7.4 Software/Drivers. Anyone taken the leap and updated their stuff? I know many like me had problems with 7.3 and went back to 7.2.

Description:
The Catalystâ„¢ software suite 7.4 contains the following:

* Radeon® display driver 8.36
* Multimedia Centerâ„¢ 9.16
* HydraVisionâ„¢
* HydraVisionâ„¢ Basic Edition
* Remote Wonder 3.04
* WDM Driver Install Bundle
* Southbridge/IXP Driver
* Catalystâ„¢ Control Center Version 7.4

The Catalystâ„¢ Control Center requires that the Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1 or 2.0 be installed. Without .NET version 1.1 or 2.0 installed, the Catalystâ„¢ Control Center will not launch properly and the user will see an error message.

CAUTION: Catalystâ„¢ 7.4 does not support the Radeonâ„¢ X1600 Pro with HDMI, please continue to use Catalystâ„¢ 7.3

Happy Upgrading.

I installed Vista a few months ago (If you haven't done it...wait!!!) and immediately had driver problems with my X1900 XTX 512. So I've been trying each of the beta's/releases as they've come out including 7.4. The reason I'm here at this forum right now is because I just had ANOTHER Crash.

I have had BSD crashes since I started with Vista. I can't play BF 2142 for more than about 20 mins without a hard BSD crash.
I'd love any suggestions on what else to do.............

My Config:
Core 2 Duo E6600
Intel BOXD975XBXLKR 975X MOBO
Corsair TWIN2X2048 2GB
Creative X-fi Platinum

I've been using Vista Ultimate x64 for about a month and have had several BSODs myself. I also use the X1900 XTX 512 and decided to stay with the last MS certified driver for the card. In fact, I don't even have the catalyst software installed on my machine. I do ocasionally get a couple of BSODs but the error codes are so generic that they mention several other posible problems which makes it difficult to troubleshoot. I really don't feel like reinstalling anything. I might just pop another HD in the box and reload my XP/Pro.

The New HD sounds like a good idea. I was REAL close to just unloading Vista and reloading XP to wait out the maturing process.
