Dual x1950Pro Video cards ... working GREAT!

Post by toadicus »

I saw more than one post of people having problems.

Here are the main pointer I followed.

a) If Vista is installed, slap yourself and get old copy of WinXP. If you a gamer, DX10 means nothing. So unless you packin HD2900xt's, done waste your time with Vista, its bloody crap anyhow.
b) Is your PSu a minimum of 550watts? if not, get a new one first.
c) Install one card and get everything working so you know its all good.
d) Turn off computer. Uninstall CCC, drivers ....everything. Including ATiTools if its loaded.
e) Install second card. Don't forget the two doggles between the cards
f) power on. wait for the auto-driver load windows to pop, close them all without doing anything.
g) Run the latest Cat installer. re-boot, go to CCC tab that says "Crossfire" if you dont see the tab, crossfire is not working. click it on.
Enjoy.

Note: Some new games still don't support crossfire or SLi. I have to turn off crossfire to play BF2 as an example.
