x1950 Fps Low?

Post by kDull »

I play CSS and TC:E and FEAR but like.
People I know have like x600's and what not and they get constant 100 fps
And I have dual crossfire cards x1950, My fps always stays around 40-50.
Which is kind of terrible considering the money I paid?
Also my drivers crash when I play CSS on high graphics I think
It has to much to render or something, I have 5.6 processor intel.
2 gigs ram everything is top of the line. my Specs are also posted on another post I made if need be.
Along with that, My FPS doesn't change AT ALL when I have crossfire enabled
It's the exact same as when I don't have them enabled, I don't get it.
These are suppose to be the best at the moment and they're being quite terrible does anyone have an Idea whats up or how I can fix anything
or what might be happening?
Also I'm running vista could that be why?

Vista is the reason, it doesn't seem to like SLi or Crossfire at the minute. Maybe you should swap back to XP if possible?

And as for the framerate, you will be running at higher graphic settings (so it looks prettier) and probably a higher resolution than your friends with the underpowered x600's.

Vista does lose about 10% of the framerate compared to what XP has, but the majority of the frame loss will be your superior graphical settings (and an inability to run crossfire).

Dan

*edit* If you really only want higher frames at the sacrifice of it looking so good (but if you did you wouldn't have bought all that good kit right? ^^) then you can turn down all the settings in the game, maybe drop the resolution and set the catalyst control settings for performance instead of quality.

Yeah I have all my settings down lowish and it's still crappy.
Vista is probably the problem, I want to install xp on my system again
I have a XP pro copy but when I goto install xp can't find my harddrives
for some reason and it won't install, i have like WD2500JS or WD2500JD they're raid
I'm not sure, but both of the hard drives are combine into one, I dunno if thats raid or not, I'm not that inclined
I don't know why XP won't find them, I don't know what to do or how to install xp now.
I just wanna get xp going on this, any words of help would be great

If you have RAID0 set up on your motherboard (which it sounds like you do) when installing XP you will need a floppy disk with the RAID controller drivers. I believe that it is the ICH8R on your board, so if you have the Intel RAID disk use that, otherwise find out for sure what RAID controller your board uses, and get the program that allows you to make a floppy driver disk and run that.

When installing XP press F6 when it asks for 3rd Party RAID or SCSI drivers. After it has finished loading the program it will ask for you to insert your disk. After that you should be able to see your hard drives to install windows to them.

Hmmm, I can't open my case cause of a damned warranty,
So I suppose I'm screwed then, Do you know anything about slipstreaming?
Or is there anything else, can I like use the HD's without raid or anything?
Or am I just gonna have to buy a new hard drive or something.
Which I'd have to open my case anyways...ahhh.
I just dunno how good I'll be at finding these and doing it right lol.
But thanks alot for you're help I'll try whatever I can

Ok, when you boot up your computer, hit delete or whatever it is that it tells you to get into the BIOS and find the page with harddrives on and see if it says anything about RAID. I'm pretty sure that your controller is the ICH8R, but lets confirm that RAID is in fact set up.

If RAID is not set up then you should see something like "SATA Mode: IDE".

so I didn't read anything above really just scanned, but do you have vertical sync enabled and high filtering AA/AF, all of those on a high resolution will limit you significantly. Vert Sync will limit you to the amount of frames as your refresh rate on your monitor, it only helps if you are noticing lines in the game.
