Strange Radeon HD 3870X2 Temperatures - GPUZ

I fired up the latest version of GPU-Z and noticed a large difference between temperatures on the Radeon HD 3870 X2. If you recall in the article we wrote on the Radeon HD 3870 that we poited out it uses two different heat sinks. One is Copper and the other is Aluminum. Check out the picture below from that article.

With GPU-Z 0.1.17 fired up I took a look at the sensors for each core and found different results.. one was 45C and the other was 65C! But, something doesn't seem to be reporting right as the cores are both detecting the fan at different speeds although there is just one fan. One says the fan is at 35% and the other shows 12%, with the hotter core showing a lower fan speed, which makes no sense...

Wonder what is going on here and if there is really a 20C difference between the cores at an idle.

GPUZ temp sensor report is way off IIRC.. i wouldn't use it to read temps ;)

what does CCC say is the temps, or rivatuner(which i use to have constant core temp monitoring, which works really well)

I use Rivatuner or HW Monitor to read GPU temps. They both seem to be spot on.
