The power requirements are also listed, with a 450W PSU with one six-pin PCI-E connector listed for the single-slot Radeon HD 4850, and a 500W PSU with two six-pin PCI-E connectors for the dual-slot 4870. As expected, both GPUs are listed as supporting DirectX 10.1 and PCI-E 2.0, as well as Quad CrossFire.

Is it just me, or does the fan on the 4850 look very similar to the one used on the 3850?
Do you guys have a preview of these two cards? They were rumored to beat NVIDIA's current offerings I believe.

Nothing really extraordinary here. I'm still waiting for benchmarks!

Word around the web is that the 4870 will best the 8800GT and such but it will NOT beat NVIDIA newest offerings. This is all hearsay of course until benchmarks are released but it would appear that ATI is a half-step behind at this point.
I'm not complaining it makes for some cheap ATI cards.

HD4850 looks impressive just because it's a single slot...
I really, really like ATi cards in a technical sense as the the red circuit boards always appear to be so much smarter than nVIDIA's. Radeons always have the power regulation components cleanly laid out with finesse, whereas nVIDIA's boards are usually quite... crude. Too bad the ATi GPUs just don't cut it for their actual use. High resolutions, high LODs and playable frame rates just don't meet. I truly hope HD4870 will be a huge improvement compared to HD3800 series.
I have a feeling I'm going to get one of these - regardless of the fact that I'm definately going for a nVIDIA G200 based card too...

Idk, from what i've been hearing Nvidia's main focus is in bulking up their processing cores to offload more to the gpu than from the cpu, albeit as a response to intel trying to implement gpu power to their processors. It looks they are scrambling to keep up with both Intel and AMD/ATI, but I think they are bit overpowered to say the least.
I have high hopes for the 4870X2, because it could drive prices down on everything else.

My X1900XTX is about to give up the ghost...I'm waiting to hear reports from users here before I decide 4850 or 4870. They sure look like they are better in the price/performance arena...Hope it's soon!!

They look good as far as I can tell, but I'll still be holding onto my x1800xt for a while I think, until something gives, be it mobo/processor/ram then I'll upgrade and part my other things into my other computers. I'm excited to see the 4870 as it should be much faster than the 4850 as it has much higher bandwidth on both the core and the memory. GDDR5.
