Whats faster?

a 8600gt or ATI AMD FIRESTREAM 2U 1GB PCI-E DUAL DVI VIDEO CARD?
AMD 960T OC'ed to 4gz
ASRock 970 EXTREME4 AM3+ AMD 970
2 X G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000)(16gb)
EVGA SuperClocked 02G-P4-2682-KR GeForce GTX 680 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong guys, but I think the Firestream is a professional videocard for businesses running CAD programs and such. It probably won't be good for gaming.

Can the folding client be run on it?

right now NVIDIA is hands down faster than ATI in folding... I'd rather have a $70 GeForce 9600 GT than any of those cards from a F@H view point.

Can't wait for a new client that will make use of all 800 processors :)

Back on topic, both of those cards shouldn't even be considered. Your budget is sub-100$? You can fin d a 8800GT or 9600GT for that price!

It is for a kids computer and want to spend around 30.
