Information regarding 4870x2

Post by Stevoid »

Hello all

I'm looking at purchasing a 4870x2 graphics card soon and have just realised that my motherboard's PCI x 16 slot is only version 1.

My question is would there be much noticable difference between this and a PCI x 16 2.0 slot? Is it worth upgrading my motherboard or would it be fine?

Thanks!

there will be a slight performance hit in some applications, but you should be fine for the most part. With Nehalem processors coming out you might want to upgrade to that platform down the road to a PCI Express 2.0 platform as the new processor along with triple channel memory will mean some serious gaming performance.
