Dual View Problems

Hey everybody

I hope you can help out on this one.
Since I got that new LG 5700 Full HD screen in the living room, I wanted to attach my pc ( specs in sig) to it. So I bought a 10 m HDMI cable and plugged it into my graphics card with an DVI to HDMI adapter. My primary display is a Philips 200 WS 20.1" @ 1680* 1050. When plugged in both displays are shown in the catalyst control center. When setting the LG as Clone everything works fine and I get a picture on both of the screens, but when trying to push some settings, like the resolution or any other setting (in the displays manager of the CCC) for that matter I get a grey screen with light grey lines running from top to bottom on both screens for about 10 seconds and after that I get back to the normal desktop, but my pc has frozen, and doesn't react to anything, not even the clock on my keyboard works. I get the same thing when trying to set the LG to extend my desktop. When only running one of the displays everything is fine and I can play and work on it, but when trying to get both to work at the same time It sometimes works for a while but I get random freezes.

I would be thankful for any recommendations :)

I could be wrong about this but I think both displays need to have the same resolution when cloning your desktop; and since your LCD maxes out at 1680* 1050...

Yeah thought about that. The thing is it shouldn't happen when extending the desktop, but that freezes the cpu instantly.

Uninstall catalyst drivers.

Reboot.

Run driver cleaner pro.

Reboot.

Install the 8.10 cats.

Short update on this.

So the problems were actually the overclocked card as far as I can see. The new installation of all drivers of course reset the OC settings, but as soon as I just raise the clock 5 Mhz from default everything becomes unstable again and locks up eventually, this doesn't happen with only one of the screens activated but as soon as it's dual view the card, or the drivers have problems running on more than stock settings.
