Cant play a DVD

ok my friend gave me his laptop to fix. he cant play DVD's on it. I am pretty sure I need a video codec he has XP on the laptop. can anyone recommend something? also i am trying to update his ati mobility redeon 9000 igp driver. cant find anythin gon the ati site- anyone know where these can be found?

First thing I can think to suggest is to try VLC, if that works then it's probably just some missing drivers...

he has VLC on his computer.. doesnt work
i going to try and reinstall it.

I still wasnt able to find any drivers for the card. It looks like ATI stopped supporting the gpu in his laptop. Does anyone know if they have unified drivers like nvidia has where any of the new drivers should work?

I'm having problme with my graphics card in relation to playing hd videos, bu before i got my card i used the following codec/player and it worked a charm for dvd's and video files;
K-Lite codec pack
Windows Meda Player 11

There are 6 files there, BUT you only need the sixth one down named; Download [ K-Lite Codec Pack 4.2.5 FULL ]
