I sent one of these to Gomeler just recently, but wanted to show you a couple pictures I snapped of it next to a standard Radeon HD 4870 X2 to give you an idea of just how interesting this graphics card really is. If Chris can get the review done quickly it should be up late next week as we have to send the card back to Palit (they are in high demand).

As you already all know AMD's ATI RadeoN HD 4870 X2 is essentially two HD4870s operating in Crossfire mode on a single card. This design takes up two slots and is known to be a little hot and loud when gaming since the fan speeds up as the temperature rises. The designers over at Palit Multimedia have super-sized the original Radeon HD 4870 X2 and designed what they call the Revolution R700 Deluxe. This card takes up not two, but three slots in the case, so running CrossFireX won't be an option on many motherboards and/or cases as the power supply sits right below the motherboard in many enthusiasts cases like the Cooler Master Cosmos and Thermaltake Spedo. Here are a couple pictures to hold you over till we get the review out the door next week.
As you can tell the Palit Revolution R700 has two massive fans blowing air down across a pair of equally impressive aluminum heat sinks that are attached to each GPU. This means that the cooling area is far greater than the original design by AMD and that it will have more airflow since there are two fans.
Looking at the pair of Radeon HD 4870 X2's from the side you can see that the Palit Revolution R700 Deluxe is a triple slot card with DVI, HDMI, Display Port and VGA outputs on the rear I/O plate. One entire slot of the card is fluted to allow for hot air to exit the case as well. Strangely enough, Palit has not overclocked the core clock one bit, so the core clock remains at 750MHz. The memory clock speed on the other hand has been overclocked from 900MHz to 950MHz, which is an improvement of sorts. With this sort of cooling I'd expect that this card has much more overclocking room left in it, but I'll leave that to Gomeler to figure out.

It's a nice looking card, very curious what Palit has done under the hood. Definitely going to be stripping this card naked and poking and prodding

First of all, I want one.

Second, I really hope to see some very nicely scaled performance numbers from the "regular" X2 kit. For me, it's all about HD displaying and HD rendering so that will be my tale of the tape.

Will I have to knock off a Brinks truck to get one in my Christmas stocking though??

why didnt they drop that vga port too the first slot cover for 2 completley vented slots? and why is it a VGA and not a dvi?
