Renderless mode in MPC Homecinema: no picture on TV

Hi,

Yesterday I bought a Sapphire ATI HD3850 AGP card. After I installed the drivers everything seems to work fine, except for the display of movies on my TV.

First of all, here's my setup:

- Motherboard ASRock 775i65G
- Pentium E2160 processor
- 2GB RAM
- Sapphire ATI HD3850 AGP card
- TV is a Sony 46Z4500, full HD
- Samsung monitor
- OS is Windows XP SP3

One of the DVI-outputs is connected to the TV, the other DVI-output is connected to the monitor. The resolution of the monitor is 1024*768, but the resolution of the TV is 1920*1080 (full HD)
IOW, the extended mode (dualview) of the videocard is used.

I'm using MPC Homecinema to display movies on TV. My problem is that no picture (of the movie) is displayed on the TV once I select VMR7/VMR9 renderless mode in MPC. It is being displayed when I select overlay mixer though!
So does anyone know how the get the picture of the movie on my TV when using the renderless mode?

Thanks in advance!

BTW, I have to use the renderless mode because I want to use subtitles. That's also explained in this thread: http://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/ ... 67678.html

I think it's probably a DRM block built in to the OS/Playback software.

Try running both screens in clone (or disable the LCD) and see if they movie plays on your TV then.

Failing that, try reinstalling video codecs with something like the KLite Codec pack.

Thanks for the reply. I switched to clone mode, made sure I had selected VRM9 renderless mode in MPC, and yes, the video appeared on the TV! But unfortunately, the resolution on the TV is now 1024*768 while my TV is capable of displaying full hd.
Uninstalling en re-installing video codecs had no effect at all. I also upgraded to catalyst version 8.12, unfortunately, to no avail again.

So dualview doesn't work as it is supposed to be imho. Any more idea's to display movies in full hd on the TV?

Maybe I could get it working by sending the window of the movie to the TV. That worked on my previous Nvidia 7600GS card. I used a shortcut to send the window of the application to the TV and another shortcut to get back on the Samsung monitor. Any way to implement this in my current setup?

If you can't get it to work while both are active, you can set a profile in the catalyst control center (in fact you can set two), one for disabling your LCD and having the TV as the main monitor (so full HD res), and a second to re-enable both screens.

You should then be able to swap between them by right clicking on the "ATI" logo on the system tray and enabling the two different profiles from that menu.

try using either EVR (extended video resolution mode) or try VMR7 or 9 windowless mode see if that helps
