crashing games could be anything from corrupted drivers, bad memory on the video card, bad system memory, overheating of the CPU/GPU, or a number of other things. You really have to just wait till you see it. Do a virus and spyware scan, update the drivers, and then go down the checklist and try to figure it out.
You may want to redo the whole thing, OS, chipset drivers, everything.
If not the best thing would be to run drive cleanner to remove any remnants of your graphics drivers, then reinstall the drivers, then DirectX.
I'd recommend startin g all over.
Also, download ATI Tool and use it to record your card temps so we can start eliminating causes, you can also use it to adjust your fan speeds and the PCI clock, which can have an effect as well.

Sounds like some remnants of drivers from another card is tweaking the stability of your current one.
A full reformat will fix that easily. If you dont want to format, well then your gonna have to go through the registry in safemode, unistall and delete everything related to a driver. Uninstall your card and its drivers. Etc.

right ive done a complete reformat and loaded everything back on, i bought a freezer 7 fan for my cpu and u upgraded fan for the graphics card !
Had three different people look at it now and they cant stop it doing it either !
Pile'o'**** is still doing it, im gonna give up ! the dealer where i bought it said i can take it back and swap for another model im going back to nvidia !
ATI = Rubbish

Well, after all of that, like Apop's post above... you still don't know if it was the vid card unless you've tried a different card and you were able to play games without crashing.
You could end up getting a new card and still get the same thing... if that's the case, then your original card was probably fine and the CPU, mobo or system memory could be the issue.
Good luck.

ive already swapped memory over and it was still the same ! i tried my geforce 6880gt card in it and it didnt crash !
But saying that the geforce wasnt as good as it was when it was in my own sytem ! maybe it is just a silly bios setting ive missed but what
people keep saying make sure fast rights is turned off but there's no option in the bios for this on a p5p800 !
but there is in the ati taskbar settings tab but it makes it even worse with blotchy screen and weird graphics !
i'm just lost now

right afterall that messing around we packeged the card up and took it back to the shop where we got it ! he gave us our money back after a big long chat about what we had done to try and solve the problem !
We bought a nvidia 6600GT came home and fitted it loaded on the latest driver off the nvidia website and kazzam !
Problem sorted ! ! ! !
The graphics are crystal clear even on the desktop wallpaper and not even a glitch once while playing games at maximum detail at 1208x1024 res.
And the drivers off the nvidia site are so much easier than Ati !
Will i ever buy a Ati card again you hear me say...............
WILL I FCUK ! !
