Hi, I was look at OverClocking ATI thread and I was wandering if it is worth using ATI Tool or ATI Tray Tool If so which one would be the best to use? I did try ATI Tool but it didn't work, I obviously didn't do some thing right so I removed it, I just use ATI Overdrive.

I use ATI Tool.

If the program isn't working in automatically setting your overclocking while keeping below speeds that cause the card to artifact, then you should manually set the clockspeeds in the ATI CCC, and just use the artifact scanner in ATI Tool to check the card is still stable.

This is what you don't want to see on ATI Tool

There are other things you will notice on your screen that aren't good if artifacts show up without ATI Tool. Closing thing I can compare it to is when an NES used to crash back in the day. Screen might be garbled completely or just maybe a spot or two around. But you will know if that happened

I haven't overclocked a video card in a bit of time but in my experience, it happens because the overclock is too high. Usually to fix it would be to go a little lower on the speed until you find a good speed that's stable..Mine happened since it was a bad card from the start. It was OC'd by the manufacturer but it was a defective piece regardless in the end.

If you have not overclocked the card the yes it has gone bad. Is it still under waranty to be able to send it back for a replacement?
