X1600XT Windows 7 x64 Problems

I have a problem using this card in windows 7. The computer boggs down when it uses the driver. not even normal windows open at the correct speed if I remove the default driver (X1600 Microsoft Driver) back to standard VGA driver it works but I have no 3D support. When I downloaded windows vista x64 drivers tehy gave me the same issue in windows 7. I see they released drivers for hd 2k series but not x1k series for windows 7. anybody have an x1k series card working on windows 7 or a driver I should try? remember it is x64 also.
