ATI 4650 problems using XP Pro on Windows 7 machine
ATI 4650 problems using XP Pro on Windows 7 machine
Recently bought a Sony FW510 to use with digital radiography in my dental office. My software did not work on Windows 7 and when I put on Windows XP pro I can't get the ATI HD 4650 driver to work. I am hoping some kind soul could help out and suggest a solution to this problem. Thanks very much.

I am guessing you have the latest ATI drivers downloaded and installed?
Since this is a laptop you will likely have to go through Sony to get the driver...
The Sony VGN-FW510F notebook is said to have a Radeon HD 4570 and the driver is located here - http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-do ... 3&os_id=45
Not much I can do without the full model number.

The Sony site says that is a model that was only available in Canada and doesn't list any drivers for it on their site.

very strange. I am guessing you are in Canada? Maybe you can contact where you bought it and ask them about drivers as public drivers from Sony are non-existent. I'm guessing you tried Windows 7 own online update option?

Yup. I am indeed in Canada. After a lot of searching and reading I gave ATI Mobility Modder 1.2.1.0 a try and it did the trick. Now just have to wait to see if it is stable. Hopefully it is the answer. When I first booted with it the resolution was very low but it did allow 1600 x 900 which is adequate for my need. Thanks for your help.
