This might be some new news to some of our readers here in the States!
Radeon 9550 series graphics cards were originally meant to be sold only in China. However, the company decided to broaden its sales scope to include other markets such as Europe and North America due to satisfactory uptake in China, the sources added. The Radeon 9550 card will probably be priced around US$80
The kicker is that the FOB (free on board) price of the Radeon 9550 is US$5 higher than the Radeon 9600 SE at US$65 per unit, the 9550 offers higher performance with double the memory bandwidth.

So the 9550 is the card to have over the 9600SE!

From my research the 9550 is just a replacement for the 9200 series budget card and maybe a bit better than the 9600se, but I wouldn't get one with 9500np's still out and about.

The card should retail under $85 so it's not supposed to be a gaming card. But it is better than the 9600SE that is used in basic family rigs. So if I had the choice of the 9600SE or the 9550 I'd pick the 9550!

I tweaked a buddies rig with a soft modded 9500nonpor to get 12000 3dmark01 and he loves it for COD and UT2004.
Oh definately if I had to choose 9550 is the right choice over 9600se

I think that with this release, Ati is going to earn much money from its low end card, It´s a good strategy from Ati
