Just got an official e-mail on this from AMD PR:
We have just released the ATI Catalyst™ 10.4 preview for Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP for the ATI Radeon HD 5000 product line. The reason why we’ve released ATI Catalyst 10.4 early is because we wanted to get this driver into the hands of every Battlefield: Bad Company 2 user out there ASAP, as the ATI Catalyst 10.4 driver includes a performance optimization that solves the long load times for new maps.
Grab the driver here:
http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pa ... otfix.aspx
For our ATI Radeon HD 4000, ATI Radeon HD 3000, and ATI Radeon HD 2000 Series users – don’t worry, we’re going to update the driver in the next few days (we’ll call it the ATI Catalyst 10.4a driver) which includes the performance improvements for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 new map load times for those products as well.
We’ll provide the full list of new features, etc. to the world, once we release the official ATI Catalyst 10.4 release later this month.

Oh sweet! I can't wait to get home and try them. I've noticed considerably long loading times with my 5770. I thought it was my new HD sucking but I'll be interested to try this.

you'd think loading times would be associated with the GAME not the graphics card drivers

crazy that this was out today.. last night I set up a 3rd PC at home to have freinds over and play badcompany 2. this 3rd computer used a 8800gso video card and was starting maps almost instantly while the other two with ATI 5770 cards seemed to take minutes to load. This is great to hear.

don't want to seem like a real beginner, but I am...
I use a Mobility HD5650... Before this came out I hadn't changed anything on the drivers...
"Driver Packaging Version 8.672.3-091111a-092448C-Acer"
I don't even know how to check my Catalyst version...
I downloaded the stuff from the link... And as it says to Uninstall everything from ATI before reinstalling the new thing... I did so...
Then I installed the new, and there was no CCC option when right click on background... Only after installing the 8.672
And nothing changed on my loading on Bad Company 2...
What am I doing wrong...?

thats driver was for 57XX series cards. you should go to the website and get the lastest driver for your 5650..
that driver caused my brothers computer with a 5770 card to become unstable, jittery screen and BSOD. We were able to roll back the driver.
It works fine for me tho. my load times are awsome now.

I actually did... It's this here:
VGA_ATI_8.672.3.0_W7x86W7x64_A
And I also have this:
ati_catalyst_10.4_preview_win7_vista_apr12
I never used ATI before, and I'm not good in CPU's

I don't see a preview for Linux at that link. Do you know if there's anywhere that a Linux preview can be downloaded? Running Fedora, so the preview for Ubuntu won't help.

So I installed these drivers last night, after some issues with 10.3 not being uninstalled, and I must say... wow. BCBF2 loads SOOOOO much faster, however there is some small render stutter when I get into the game. I noticed a boost in FPS as well... not sure if anyone else has or maybe I'm trippin
Be sure to use DriverSweeper when removing 10.3 btw guys. Use Catalyst install manager to uninstall everything, reboot - driver sweeper and then reboot- install 10.4. I didn't do this at first and I had some issues.
Bottom line, very happy with drivers.

Mobility has different drivers than the standard graphics cards for ATI. I don't think they usually preview those... You would have to go to their downloads site and select mobility.
