die as in silicon ;)

The Inquirer have details of ATI's new core?

they have something i never seen b4 in a gfx chip "General Purpose Register Arrays" ; I think they are also in the cell cpu? or is that a fancy way of saying cache? or mayby it's for this..
The Inquirer wrote:As R520 is very programmable chip you will be able to process as much as 512 threads on this GPU, this means that two GPU together brings a nice number of 1024 threads and Intel and ATI believe that programming with threads in mind should get you to faster performance in dual setups.

32pipelines (4x4)

also more "Details" here

and here states the R520 has eight vertex shaders!

:edit again:

I think "General Purpose Register Arrays" is just a fancy name for cache, but i might be wrong.
Lets see what ATI will bring us, i look forward to it :)

After looking at the diagram from the Inquirer, I'm only led to believe the same thing you two do: that looks an awful lot like cache memory. And sorting through the colorful language in the quote, it looks like it may have as much cache as a high-mid end A64 or P4 Prescott. Now that's nuts, lol.

It's a pity Nate and Co. are bound by NDA's!

But still.....ATI's site says... 3 Days to go!

Yeah no joke. Despite the fact they've been caught with their pants down recently, I guess I would be willing to give their new stuff a chance if it proves to be worth the price for the performance. Guess we'll all have to wait for a review on these new cards coming out, well worth the wait IMHO.
