Hi guys, i was about to purchase the MSI twin frozr version of the 6950 when i found out it could no longer be unlocked. I'd like to know if the performance of the twin frozr is better than a ref 6950 that was unlocked to a 6970? Which is a better choice to buy?
Thanks
MSI 6950 Twin Frozr II or Ref 6950 unlocked?

I'd rather get one that can be unlocked...
Why can't the MSI card be unlocked anymore? I missed that news

Hmm from what i've read, the non ref models like the twin frozr II has been laser-cut so it cannot be unlocked anymore. Alright thanks for ur input!
im also thinking of sticking to the ones that can be unlocked, just wondering how far apart the performance will be

Hi guys!
I've bought this card, and I'm very pleased with it.
It overclocks past the 6970 ref card, and in general handles all new games in average to extreme settings.( at ful HD settings)
Since its a non ref card it does not, and have never been, unlockable. It does not have a dual bios . Unfortunate experiences have been made, do not try this.
You could alllways discuss if this is a good choice, and I've chosen this with future cf in mind, as I'm "limited" with a cf only mother board.
If not, I think I would have chosen a pair of 560ti 1ghz from gigabyte
