Online Petition: For ATi to bring back the old control panel

Catalyst 5.11 drivers were the last to be bundled with the old control panel. At least with 5.11, there was an option between the old control panel and the new CATALYST .net control panel. We are up to version 5.12 and 5.13 and you are now forced to use the new .net Control Panel, the old control is now not an option anymore. By signing this petition you are telling ATi you might be boycotting future purchases of ATi hardware.

Is it's possible, spread the word.

To: ATi

It's time to boycott purchases of ATi products until the old control panel is brought back. We want the option of the old control panel back.

I am an outraged customer of a Sapphire ATI Radeon 9500 Pro. The last set of drivers to support the old (good) control panel has disappeared in Catalyst drivers 5.12 and 5.13 and you are forced to use the CATALYST .net Control Panel. Bring back the old control panel

The new Catalyst Control Center, is

1. Slow

2. Memory hogging

3. Unresponsive

4. Crash prone

5. Requires the Microsoft .net Framework which is a 23.1MB download from microsoft

6. Takes longer to download than the old control panel.

7. Loads unneccary processes to your system (CLI.exe) which can't be disabled anywhere in the new Control Panel, no for reason at all CLI.exe is loaded twice.

8. Killing CLI.exe process, the new Control Panel does not load at all, no error message or anything.

9. CLI.exe required by the new Control Panel, This increases boot time, and memory usage while it is not in use.

Signing this petition is telling ATi to cut the crap and give us the old control panel back.

I was considering upgrading my graphics card, and ATi has forced my hand to go to Nvidia unless of course the old control back comes back.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

Yeah, not to happy about the new driver set. I really dont like DOT NET and most of the Driver is nothing but bloat. Why are drivers now 50+mb???

some how i cant see having that much loaded in just to run my video card helpping my frame rates.

I'll jump on the band wagon, it totally sucks that there are no control panel drivers. But don't expect a responce from them, I've already sent a rather large email after the 5.12 came out and still haven't heard anything out of them.

I saw the drivers only, doesn't say anything about control pannel. I wouldn't think it would give you any adjustment options on the card without the control pannel. I may try it on my second rig just to see what the deal is.

I'm downloading it now and I'm going to try installing it by its self and then the control pannel from 5.11 to see if it'll even work...........

The drivers load fine by themselves, but this is all you get in the control psnnel.

If you just uninstall the old drivers and leave the control pannel installed, installing just the drivers does work. How stable it is remains to be seen. I'll be running some benchmarks to see how well things are still working.

You have to have a prior version install before you try installing the 5.13 drivers though because the ATI Cat installer won't let you install just the control pannel by it's self.
Or you can just expand the 5.11 cats to your desktop and then go to the control pannel folder and install just the control pannel after you install the 5.13 drivers.
There's more than one way to get around things if you really want to........... :finga:

good find! Can you enable crossfire with that old control panel?

I think you need to have a crossfire card installed for that option to show up. .......... And I'm not lucky enough to have such a thing ..............
I've only got a 9800 Pro and a X800XL. Everything seems to be working fine right now, 3D Mark is running right now on my PCI-e system right now.

I ran 3D Mark 05 and got the same exact same results using both sets of drivers. No gain, but no loss either, so I guess the idea works on my card, but not worth the trouble due to no gain in performance.

5871 with both sets of drivers.
