Okay.. Here's my problems

On my computer, I possess a Radeon 9800 pro graphic card,128mo, 8X/4X AGP

Since last weeks and when I installed/tried to play Civilization IV on my computer, I experienced a crashing and it sented me into the desktop. I then got a error message saying that ''something cannot be displayed correctly, please report this error to microsoft and restart computer'' and some second later, everythings frooze..

At first view, I though the game neeed to be patched (Fact that the game experienced some problems with ATI graphic card without patch) but it still haven't fixed the problems..

secondly, I tried to update drivers. which resulted into cli.exe error (Corrected) but still, it haven't fixed the problems.. I then also started to experience lost signal from PC (Not monitor)

All of this now... everything on my 3D portion (Games, vidéos.. whenever it involve 3D and a lot of 2D) crash and lock-up/Lost signal.

I don't understand... I bought this card since Mars 2005 and it worked all fine... until it started messing up with Civilization IV.. I also did a systeme restoration but it didn't worked etheir..

I Really need help please!! I can't figures anything that would help me fix it!

Thanks for listening to me.

sounds like you have done the right things. I personally would un-install the card, run driver cleaner, and install the ATI Catalyst 6.1 drivers. To top it all off you might want to make sure the heat sink has the proper compound still on it after years of use.

It doesn't do it on any other game or benchmark? Does it crash when running 3DMark05?

Well.. It strangely doesn't crash or lock-up when I play Civilization III (and I also started playing that game few weeks ago) and my card was working fine, but now.. only that game (and some weaker I have but don't play) would work..

About your solutions (For the drivers) il try it. but I don't know what is a heat sink.. Etheir I don't know what is 3DMark05.

Sorry ^^'

Okay, I did uninstalled the card, runned driver cleaner and installed Catalyst 6.1, then I got 3DMark05 and running... It froozen while it was testing (Some kind of high 3D video with gunner shooting at others)

For the heat sink, I don't know much what to do.. I need help please :(.

Try putting a fan close to the card, to blow on it..(get it as cool as possible)
then try some game...if it gets a bit better, then heat is your prob.

Exactly...I just found out that heat is exactly my problems.. fan doesn,t work anymore (Or wathever the case)

Now.. I guess I need to buy some cooling kit of some sort.

Thanks for helping me out ^^.

check major PC stores like PC cyber: http://www.pccyber.ca/scrItems.asp?prod ... types_id=8

tiger direct: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/ ... =A250-1083

bigfootcomputers: http://www.bigfootcomputers.com/Merchan ... _Code=71.1

just make sure you get the version that matches your card (in case of 9800pro, it's the ATI silencer3: http://www.bigfootcomputers.com/Merchan ... _Code=71.1
