ATI HDTV WONDERâ„¢

Post by Trevor »

I'd like to say this is a great card but the software really sucks I can even make a list:

9.13 software

1. Changing through subchannels is a hard because when you switch from say wedu has 3 channels 3-1, 3-2, and 3-5 so say I tune to 3-1 it goes there fine then from there I want to go to 3-2 it goes for a second the picture freezes and starts playing the audio from 3-1. The only way to handle it is to go to another station and then go directly to the subchannel I want.

2. The program freezes sometimes when I rightclick on the screen to get to setup.

3. When ever I right click the screen and click setup it goes to setup and then the right click menu comes back again usually when I click away from it the whole program freezes.

4. Sometimes when I go into the setup it just freezes.

5. When I change options like the audio in the setup it just freezes.

There is no way to select spdif output? There is only "decode and downmix to" and only option is 2 speakers Then there is "Pass through to audio device" Only option is "Cyberlink Audio renderer (ATI)" But it never works, either therer is no sound of it freezes. Also when I uninstall and reinstall I get 2 options "Cyberlink Audio renderer (ATI)" and "Cyberlink Audio renderer (ATI2)"

But the picture queality is awesome compared to anolog tv especially HD programming.

Here are some pics:

Upn regular 4:3 content in a 16:9 environment, It seems they crop the image a little so that it will fit a 16:9 display better. Thats annoying for me because I have a 4:3 monitor and I am forced to watch 4:3 content in 16:9 mode with black bars on the top, bottom and sides, their the only ones that do that so whatever but thats the chanel I watch the most.

Also the cropping makes it so you miss some of the top and bottom of the image, like part of Homer's head

Alright selecting Cyberlink Audio renderer (ATI) and then restarting the program works, but whenever that information bar comes up every 5 minutes or you change the channel it starts stuttering.

Is that the software from the CD or the latest one from their website?
Stuffs that comes on CD are usually junk.

ATI Multimedia Center 9.13 is currently the latest

It's the latest 9.13.

I just found an annoying bug the hard way,
in the channel list when you click the delete button with nothing selected it crashes and when you try to reopen the program it say unable to initialize tv and I have to restart the computer. I accidently did that twice lol

When I installed my HDTV card with the installation CD into an Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core processor on an ASUS A8N sli MB and a Radeon X1800 XL video card, I was able to get a digital HD picture, but the analog tuner would not work, nor did the remote control. I then downloaded the 1 18 2006 software edition from ATI. I first removed the previous installation and then installed using this software. Now I got video from both the digital and analog tuners, but I had no sound. Even the little speaker icon button that is used to mute the sound on both tuner displays was missing altogether! TV without sound is useless so I tried installing from my CD to get the sound back, and then uninstalling the multmedia center and replacing it with the 1 18 2006 edition. I was able to get sound and both tuners working somewhat. The problem is now after about 10 to 15 minutes of analog signal, the video begins to skip about 50% of the frames and becomes choppy and useless. Fortunately, the digital HD part works fine and doesn't have this problem. Is there something I can do to fix the analog tuner? If I switch from analog to digital and then immediately return to the analog tuner, it works fine again (for about 10 minues). But this is not long enough to be adequate.

I highly recommend Beyond TV 4 for you guys having problems. I've had the software for about a year and a half now (recently upgraded from version 3) and have been very happy with it. It supports multiple tuners and is very stable.
I recently purchased an ATI HDTV Wonder and BT4 supports this card. I have no problems at all watching, listening, or recording HD content.

I am still trying to get my HDTV card to work properly. I did try Beyond TV 4 and it works OK but I can't get it for less than $50 and the ATI software is free. I don't see why it won't work. There are two sets of problems. If I use my original CD from the box, the HD digital won't run because of a missing multimedia video driver (I have tried every video driver I could find and nothing satisfies the install wizard). Also, because I have an ATI XL1800 video card, the software seems to think it should have TV capability (which it doesn't) and loads the ATI all-in-wonder drivers which don't work with the HDTV card rather than the correct drivers so the analog portion doesn't work either.

When I use the latest software from ATI's web site, it all loads very well and everything works wonderfully except one thing - NO SOUND. I don't how to fix this as I always get sound using my CD install, but I never get sound with the new downloaded software. How to you check out the drivers for sound? Nothing seems to be missing in the hardware list for my multimedia drivers in my SYSTEM.
