Hey, my buddies got an old radeon 8500 and the fan went the way of the crapper... any suggestions as to what to get?

Thanks!

just a simple chipset fan should do the job. Also what i have done with some of my vga fans that go out is screw a fan into the spaces on the heatsink. Ghetto but works great!!

so i got some cyclone vga cooler. the only problem is, there are no mounting spots on the card itself... there is no screw holes or anything. i just put some arctic ceramic thermal goop on it and am hoping that it stays....will it stay? or will it fall off?

It might fall off. I'd say a 60% chance of doing so...

Get some Arctic Silver Epoxy. The best thermal glue, better than thermal tape.

If you end up needing some, Newegg has it for a good price. That's where I got my set. I'd get it anyway, just in case, it's handy to have.

I put the 6 ramsinks currently on my vid card with it, haven't fallen off or even become loose in like 6 months. (In case anyone's wondering, yes my card has 8 ramchips, I just messed up the application on two of them and haven't taken the time to redo it.)
