X1950 PRO 512 AGP

Post by Racerboyf1 »

OK so I have been running this card x1950 pro 512 agp for a while now and decided to run some benchmarks. WTF is going on? Scores have dropped by around 17%. I was using a x800xl. I'm going to plug it back in and see what happens, but damn that just doesn't sound right.

Make sure your drivers are proper =)

Your settings might also have something to do with it.
Rigs:
AMD 3400+ Claw, DFI NF3 250GB, 1GB XMS3200 2-2-2-5, 9800 Pro, 2x80GB WD HDD Raid0, 320GB External
Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo, Test Pipe, WB02, Boost controller, EGR delete, Autometer Cobalts, etc.

Drivers are catalyst 7.1 and I've tried a bunch of different settings so far. I think I might try a fresh install of windows. I've been running the same install for over 2 years now. I used to install fresh once a year.

I rolled the drivers back and ran bechmarks again. 3dmark03 went from 12203 to 15023. 3dmark05 went from 5797 to 7934. 3dmark06 went from 2028 to 4409. I am happy so far with all the benchmarks, but what has me confused is 3dmark2001se, the scores went from 23171 to 22716. WTF is up with that??????

I have not done a fresh install of windows yet, but plan to very soon.

Maybe the older software favours older cards? X800XL has 16 pixel pipelines while X1950Pro has 12. The score may not be so surprising.

[#3 single Radeon X1950 Pro 512mb in 3Dmark 2003] : #3 Radeon X1950 Pro 512mb in 3Dmark 2003 with 15023 marks
well done man way to pull out some points on your card.
however your card is agp not pcie so you may be able to get more points for that if we can specify that or not. I'll post that on benching thread.

I did not notice a place to include that. Is there anything else I can do to add points? I read in the thread you pointed to something about screenshots? I can do that if it will add points.

Once your install is verified stable and the performance is acceptable to you, the cessation of benchmark programs my bring you peace of mind. I ceased worrying about synthetic measures a year ago and focused on real world gameplay. My life is so much better once I stopped worrying about every little point.

With regards to the CCC, I typically eschew that piece of bloatware in favor of the stand alone driver combined with tray tools (fan and temperature).
